Cup #241

Worldwide, nearly 40 million people are living with HIV and AIDS.
Over 13 million children have been orphaned due to AIDS.
Six hundred thousand children are infected with HIV each year.
And 25 years into the AIDS pandemic, no vaccine or cure is in sight.
The numbers speak for themselves.
What are you doing to help?

Well what are you going to do to help?

Facts

Fact Sheet AIDS/LifeCycle ...

Triumphant cyclist at the 'Halfway to L.A.' point on Day 4.... will take place June 3-9, 2007, as cyclists and volunteers will travel 545 miles through beautiful California from San Francisco to Los Angeles.

... is the official cycling event of the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center.

... is about HIV/AIDS and raising money to help the beneficiaries continue to provide the critical services and education needed to meet the growing needs of our community.

... increases awareness and knowledge about HIV/AIDS among participants, their donors and the general public.

... addresses the widespread misperception that HIV and AIDS are no longer a problem -- in fact more people are living with HIV & AIDS today than ever before, which means a much greater need for services.

One of many fields along the route.... provides a reminder that the rate of HIV infection is increasing, particularly in communities of color and in individuals under the age of 25. In California alone there are 60,000 people living with AIDS, and another estimated 91,000 living with HIV, many unaware of their infection.

... requires each cyclist to raise a minimum of $2,500. Each cyclist is assigned to a personal "Cycle Buddy" for assistance with training, fundraising, and emotional & practical support from the moment they register through the event's completion.

Why We're Doing This Event

'In memory of' banner alongside the route.AIDS is not over. In California alone there are 60,000 people living with AIDS, and another estimated 91,000 living with HIV. Nationally, 70 percent of all new infections occur in communities of color and people under the age of 25 are increasingly affected.

The costs associated with medical care and treatment for a person with HIV is about $20,000 per year. Access to life-saving drugs, clinical trials and state-of-the-art treatment helps those with the disease a longer and better quality of life. AIDS/LifeCycle will help those living with HIV/AIDS gain greater independence and get the treatment and care they need. Cyclist wearing a bandanna that says 'For Brad.'Prevention services geared towards high-risk populations will ensure that future generations will not experience the same level of loss that we have faced in the last two decades.

As the number of people living with HIV increases, so does the need for the services provided by the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center, the two agencies producing this event.

AIDS/LifeCycle is the only AIDS fundraising bicycle event in California organized by the non-profit agencies that will benefit from the money raised by its participants. Our sole concern is providing critical services to people living with HIV and AIDS. Your support and commitment to this event is pivotal to our success. Your participation and the monies you raise will allow us to provide these critical services.

Let me dust off my dance shoes

Dance While the Sky Crashes Down

The flowers by your bed are wilting.
The sun is setting in the west.
A fog is covering your eyes,
Your stockings are attracting flies,
Decay is nibbling at the boards on which you rest.

There's someone waiting at your window,
Familiar face without a name.
One night he'll creep in like the mist,
To touch your forehead with a kiss,
And lead you back into the void from whence you came.

We've all begun to die, and don't know what to do.
Since it hurts to pray to God, when God is dying too.
Takes strength to laugh, when you start to drown.
And we dance while the sky crashes down.

Like that the earth begins to quiver,
And all the oceans turn to black.
A ship of maniacs with knives,
Are playing Blackjack with their lives,
To kill the time until the giant rats attack.

It's raining leprosy and acid.
The saints were taken out and shot.
When someone proffers you a pear,
You sink your teeth in unaware,
That just beneath the skin lies pestilence and rot.

All that now breathes, and all that you love,
All that we weave, will find its way back to the dust.

A band of skeletons is playing,
Don't act like you don't know the tune.
Your part is echoed in the path,
Of every dead leaf blowing past,
Against a counterpoint reflected off the moon.

There is a banquet at the table,
Exotic cheeses wines and cakes.
And every one of us is damned,
Until we start to understand,
That living is to gorge ourselves at our own wakes.

When the stakes are high, best to play the clown.
And we dance while the sky crashes down.

So the colts won...

So the Colts just won the superbowl...

As some of you know I live in indianapolis...And I have to be honest with you guys right now. I'm sitting here watching the game and all I can think about is how the yarn I was dying is going to turn out after it dries...I mean GREEN and PURPLE!!!! How fucking cute is that!

Hmmm...Ideas for names?

So the colts won the super bowl after 36 years. That's right, they havnt won a super bowl since Indianapolis stols the Colts from Baltimore...

I know I was to young to remember the colts being from there but I do know the story...and those who don't let me refresh you...

In 1983 the people of Baltimore woke up to find that in the middle of the night there team packed up and moved to indy without telling anyone.

So yea...

can we say shady...

NOT ONLY THAT but we have a new stadium being built for them that they threatend to move cities if they didnt get it a year ago, now we are $10,000,000 in debt over this fucking stadium...and not to mention they just got a new stadium around 10 years ago that we are STILL paying for...

so sorry if I don't get to excited of this win but to me its another football game

*sigh*

...and I'm going to go check on my yarn...

...Let them eat cake...

So I was trying to think of a new project and I got a call from work, And POOF I had my inseration. I know what your thinking... How can work inspire knitting...

WELLL this is what happened. I found out a girl i worked with had to go home * that being Panama* Her Grandfather died so I was like OMG...and decied to make her a shawl. I have been wanting ot make a shawl for a LONG time just had no reason for it. So I found some yarn from my stash, and I turned it into a shawl. I picked out two skeins of Hot Socks. They area ll her fav colors everything from orange to pink and a little blue. But I made a triangle shawl for her. I picked bright colors becasue they are all her FAV colors and I wanted something uplifting.

I was a row down and I didnt like it that much, so I took a breath *grabbed some Gray Goose in honor of E&P* and dropped every 4th stitch.

After having a mini heart attack I worked all the stitches down, and I must say its VERY cute. I will post pics here in a few days!!!

BTW incase you didnt know BROOKLYNNE MICHELLE IS BACK!

GO listen to her NOW!!! and you might hear a little surprise from umm...ME!!!!

I'm working on a new pair of socks from knitty, They are the Hedra socks...They are for my mommy for her bday in march.

SHHH! dont tell...

speaking of bdays mine is coming up VERY soon *cough* Feb 18 *cough*

so plan what you want to send me people ;-)

I'm wanting to learn how to spin so if you want send all the roving you want ;-)

and brownie points if you know who said my header ;-)

W.W.P.A.E.D?

So after sitting around thinking about my projects that need to be done, things that need cleaned, work matters I have come up to one conclusion...

W.W.P.A.E.D

I know you are looking at that jumble of leters and thinking WTF, but They will ALL make since in time...

This I promise you...

Now livingin a age were we all are looking for help on every bookself e.i Chicken soup for the soul, Four Agreements, *insert your favorite self help here*

And I wont lie I read these too, I was still at a loss for what I wanted to do in my life or how I shoul dhandle getting skipped for that promotion that was mine. I was at the end of my rope. Then it all came clear...

and the letters W.W.P.A.E.D came to me...

What
Would
Patsy
And
Eddie
Do?

And after thinking about it, it all wne clear...

They would realize the world revolved around them, a few pills, and a VERY stong 8ball, not to mention be dressed in the fasions that are so NOW that they are not ever here yet!

And I wanted to share this with all of you!

Next time you feel bad about how you look, your job, house work...

Go and find something hard and stiff * this can be taken ANYWAY* and enjoy it for a LONG time, and when its over look over at what is pissing you off and say fuck it and have a strong drink!

And now I leave you with a few words for the goddesses temselves...Patsy and Eddie...

The Starting...

So I havnt talked about this at all so this mightcome as a little surprise but I'm doing the Aids Life Cycle this summer. For those of you that don't know what it is here is the link http://www.aidslifecycle.org/.

I'm going to be sending out emails to some podcasting divas tat I know to get the word out that I'm doing this and starting a new blog to document my training and fundraising.

After I sign up I have to raise $2,500 to be able to ride those 545 miles.

I have some spinners sending in some handspun to be pt up for sale, a few huge prints by a local photographer in the indianapolis area, of course some hand knit goodies from my knitting freinds, my mom is giving me a huge X stitched work and my grandmother is making me a quilt. I think i have some dyers giving me stuff too, and not to mention brooklyn Michelle * mohs knits* is sending me some patterns to knit up and sell. So as you can see the donations are as varoius as the people giving them to me.

I'm also putting up a donation button for those that dont have the tiem to make soemthing but still want to help. I'll take ANY amount but id like to get $25 per donation. I know that sounds like alot but when you think about it that's one ball of sock yarn. When you think about it at the end of the week which would be beter knowing that you did...donating $25 to a cause that could cure a panedimic....or knitting another pair of socks....

*or you can send the yarn this way so we can knit up donations*

Any help you can give me would rock. I'll leave the choice up to you.

But in fun knitting news my LYS is having a knit in tonight were we knit all night in the shop. Oh yea I'mm excited. I think I'mm going to make a new hedgehog tonight lol

fun times! the new blog is onemiledown.blogspot.com

punk rock...

So I have a new project I'm starting tomorrow at work. I went to my LYS and I took a new knitter with me. And as we were walking around NK said "Grab what ever you like and I'll get it for you." After I picked my jaw up I was like...umm...ok So after looking around i found ONE ball of yarn i was going to get...It was this GREAT trekking sock yarn and i was going to be mine....till I walked up to the register.

The girls were talking about some fiber trends patterns and I love those patterns alot so I joined in talking about the clogs I wanted to make. Well the girls started talking about the stuffed animals, now im not REALLY familar with those patterns so I started looking them up and I found this...

So umm yea I threw my trekkin * I know gasp* and ran and grabbed yarn to make a punk rock Hedge Hog...can we say blue and purple...

My Scarf came in and "Duey" has a name

So I got my scarf today along with goodies, tho I kinda downed the chocolate and they were tastey...mmmm..

but my scarf is GREAT I love it and as you guys know I'm a size queen when it comes to scarves and this is sooo over 12 feet lone i love it. I will post pics soon!

And Mr. Duey has a new name. Well kinda. Duey is now his middle name and his first name is De Vil. Now when I get a bigger place I'm getting a girl and going to name her Cruela...

I know im a geek.

I have finished a few pairs of socks and I'm about to cast my noro I have to make a spiffy hat...more on this later.

But other than that I'm workin gand being dragged around DT indianapolis by my fuckin ghorse of a dog. This sounds fun but I didnt realize the attetion i would be getting walking De Vil. I have people running out of coffee shops to pet him. Which he loves btw UNLESS your homeless. For some weird reason De Vil feels he has to protect me from homeless people and if they ask me for change he gets into attack mode and tries to take of their fingers or some other body part that he is close to.

But I have my studio pretty much how I want it * again pics soon* and I even have a knitting corner that I work in that I'mm thinking about getting a spinning wheel

...OMG I'M A FUCKING FREAK...

but I have to let you guys go for a few I have a few rows on a sock I have to finish before I can start my hat and De Vil looks like he needs to take a quick walk...

Later everyone

and Mr. knitXcore *don't make me use your first name R**** * by order of The Brookelynn you need to UPDATE!

Deliver Me

Deliver me, out of my sadness.
Deliver me, from all of the madness.
Deliver me, courage to guide me.
Deliver me, strength from inside me.

All of my life I've been in hiding.
Wishing there was someone just like you.
Now that you're here, now that I've found you,
I know that you're the one to pull me through.

Deliver me, loving and caring.
Deliver me, giving and sharing.
Deliver me, the cross that I'm bearing.

All of my life I was in hiding.
Wishing there was someone just like you.
Now that you're here, now that I've found you,
I know that you're the one to pull me through.

Deliver me,
Deliver me,
Oh deliver me.

All of my life I was in hiding.
Wishing there was someone just like you.
Now that you're here, now that I've found you,
I know that you're the one to pull me through.

Deliver me,
Oh deliver me.
Won't you deliver me.

Hi I'm Krys and I'm a Addict...

Hello I'm Krys and I'm an addict...

I been sober for 2 weeks. Every day it gets harder esp. when people keep giving me my fix. I open my mail and I find things crammed in the the far corners, I go meet up for coffee and I have people dropping baggies into my carry all...I find people selling it for far below street price...

That's right I'm a Yarn-A-Holic...

I have recieved over 20 balls of yarn, and I'm slowly trying to figure out things to do with it.

So far I cant wait to cast on for a pair of socks for DH...

How great is this Memories in Redwood Forrest from KnitPicks

and I got a lovely skien from Charles of his own dyeing called Forest Light. This is going to become something fo me...

I also have a few new balls of Opal *I love this stuff* and Genius...can we say felted bag!

Th eother things I'm wotkin gon I cant realy post pics of becasue the are gifts for some friends of mine. Mr. Stiles and Mr. Gentry to be exact but I can tell you that these to sexy bitchs are going to LOVE what they are getting!

So I bought read and LOVED Knitting Rules. Everyone should get this book it was jsut as funny to read as it gave goo dadvice about that boring scarf you been working on.

Well It's 5 am and I'm 'goin gto curl up and watching the rest of Diary of a Mad Black Woman.

Look its beginning to snow

Ok so I know its the middle of Aug but I'm starting to knit for the holidays...

I figured If I want to get everything done early is ALWAYS beter to start...

So far I know I want to make:
  1. Socks for a few people
  2. Tempting for my sister
  3. Baby Blanket for Nicks Sister Cashmere socks for me...hehe
  4. Afghan for my mother
But my first gift I'm making is for my friend Mr. Alan Gentry. He needs something to take his mind off work and so I decided to make something fun that he can use. I wont mention it here because he reads this blog, but I told him that if he keeps asking about it he is going to have Baaad JuJu and that is not a good thing to have...But I will keep you posted on his gift. And on the same page I think I'm going to make a quick gift for Mr. Stiles before he goes off on another show for the Cirque. When I figure out what it is I'll inform you all.

*sigh*

I have to get ready for work and await the new ep of Mosh knits. Hopefuly it posted sometime this week I do so love Miss Brooklynne Michelle's show.

cheap Cashmere...what what?

I was reading Mister Gentry's blog today * as I do everyday* and a line caught my eye...

There is one thing we all have in common. We occasionally (or once a week, or every day, or every 45 minutes) geek out and show the world, via the internet, a little piece of our lives.

And I think that is a fair thing to say to everyone that takes the time to blog...

So I as cranking Mosh Knits...the greated podcast ever...and she Misstress Brooklynne Michelle was talking about a yarn designer and her stores on ebay and etsy... I looked her up and I wet myself...540 yards of Mernio for $30...and 100% cashmere for 30...yea im soooo getting some. Cashmere socks anyone???

in other news the international scarf exchange is up and going again. You beter believe I signed up for it...;-)

Well off to the grind...Later lovies!

Frogs, RAK's and Belly Dancing

So I'm sad to say that I frogged my sock. You know that I HATE frogging ANYTHING, so the fact that I frogged this sock says somthing. I was using the pattern from A Good Yarn, a good book but the pattern was a little off center. It was a 5 needle pattern yet it didnt say how to divide them nor how to seperate them when doing ribbing. I might have to try it again later but right now I'm just putting that pattern aside.

Now to my RAK, I got a package from a friend from Knitty, containing:
  1. New DPN since the ones I'm using now got wrapped * I think im going to warp these too but ill try to loosen my grip lol*
  2. 2 skeins of memories from KnitPicks. Redwood Forest I do believe she sent me. I LOVE the colors and figured I'm going to make them into a pair of socks for DB *I use DH and DB interchangeably throughout this site but its the same person* for the fall. He's been nagging at me for 2 years now to make him a pair of socks and I'm tired of him stealing he ones I made for myself.
  3. A skein of Magic Stripes from Lion Brand, which I'm knitting on right now.
So I think I make out rather nice.

Last night DH and our friend Russ went out to eat at Greek Islands and it was rather nice, I mean what can you say about a place that has belly dancers, flamming cheese and people screaming "OPA!" every 5 minutes. Fun people and great food. There vegan selections aren't GREAT but they had enough that I will want to go back again sometime.

Well, I'm to finish this sock.

Happy Knitting!

the Frog that didn't happen

So after knitting with my brand new Opal and making the heal flap to a new pair of LOVERLY socks I realized something...

I was going to turn the heal but I didn thave enough stitches...

Where did my misseg stitches go you might ask. WELL...as it turns out I was knitting along minding my own and forgot to combine the stitches so I have 30 for my heal flap....

So After frogging back to the cuff (and for those that arnt familar with socks that was a few ours work sines im knitting on fucking toothpicks) and after trying to put the stitches back on and fighting not to frog the whole damn things, I was able to start the flap again...

BUt on beter news I'm loving this Opal. its not black like I thought it was, its a dark blue that fades to white in a few spots...Very loverly....

When I finish I'll be showing them off!

I Am Not My Hair

I been jamming out to this song for months...I thought i would share it with you all!

Is that India.Arie? What happened to her hair?

Little girl with the press and curl
Age eight I got a Jheri curl
Thirteen I got a relaxer
I was a source of so much laughter
At fifteen when it all broke off
Eighteen and went all natural
February two thousand and two
I went and did
What I had to do
Because it was time to change my life
To become the women that I am inside
Ninety-seven dreadlock all gone
I looked in the mirror
For the first time and saw that HEY....

I am not my hair
I am not this skin
I am not your expectations no no
I am not my hair
I ma not this skin
I am a soul that lives within

What'd she do to her hair? I don't know it look crazy
I like it. I might do that.
Umm I wouldn't go that far. I know .. ha ha ha ha

Good hair means curls and waves
Bad hair means you look like a slave
At the turn of the century
Its time for us to redefine who we be
You can shave it off
Like a South African beauty
Or get in on lock
Like Bob Marley
You can rock it straight
Like Oprah Winfrey
If its not what's on your head
Its what's underneath and say HEY....

I am not my hair
I am not this skin
I am not your expectations no no
I am not my hair
I ma not this skin
I am a soul that lives within

Does the way I wear my hair make me a better person?

Does the way I wear my hair make me a better friend? Oooh

Does the way I wear my hair determine my integrity?

I am expressing my creativity..

Breast Cancer and Chemotherapy
Took away her crown and glory
She promised God if she was to survive
She would enjoy everyday of her life ooh
On national television
Her diamond eyes are sparkling
Bald headed like a full moon shining
Singing out to the whole wide world like HEY...

I am not my hair
I am not this skin
I am not your expectations no no
I am not my hair
I ma not this skin
I am a soul that lives within

If I wanna shave it close
Or if I wanna rock locks
That don't take a bit away
From the soul that I got

If I wanna where it braided
All down my back
I don't see what wrong with that

Is that India.Arie?
Ooh look she cut her hair!
I like that, its kinda PHAT
I don't know if I could do it.
But it looks sharp, it looks nice on her
She got a nice shaped head
She got an apple head
I know right?
It's perfect.

one down...one to go!

So Im an offical Sock Knitter!

Need proof?

Fist looking at the yarn that my SP sent me I I didnt care for the colors that much, but after knitting it up and seeing where they all fell I LOVE THEM!

I tweeked the pattern a little I shortened the calf...I'm more of a ankle sock guy really...

But I think it looks pretty nice for my first pair dont you?

DH tried to steal this sock actaully he tried it on and was like...this is nice...put is Birkenstock back on and tried to walk out..

I damn near had to tackle him to get it back!

I'll be starting the second one today...I think im going to get a new pair of needles I have a 5 set of number 1 babmboo and 'm scared that I'm going to snap them...they are already warping so if anyone have a pair of number 1's that they dont need you are more than welcome to send them my way!

In other news, I checked my mail yeterday and I and I found a LOVELY skein of Opal Sock yarn...

Isnt that sexy!

Then today I found these tucked away in the far corner of my mailbox...

I wonder what I'm going to find tomorrow...

the aftermath

So i got a email from Cathi (the LYS owner)...

Dear Krystofer,

I am so thankful you took the time to send me your thoughts. I can not begin to tell you how badly i feel about yesterday. I am sorry, and truthfully just sick about what happened. I left here feeling really bad, and very sad. As i told my family last night, that is the thing that the robber took from me....trust.

I am sure you were embarrassed, as was i. No, i don't see color of skin....and yes, you are right we did carry on a conversation about knitting....and i sensed that you were here with purpose. Then as i said, you seemed to be watching me more that looking at product and frankly that made me more that nervous. You see the guy who robbed the shop 18 months ago also had a lengthy conversation with me, i had seen him in the store before. So there you go.

I do apologize to you. I would like to get to know you better and help you make socks. Really i would. As a matter of fact i would like to offer you a Tuesday night knitting class on me. I thought about that last night and didn't even have your name or a way to contact you. So i thank you for giving me the opportunity to apologize and make you this offer. Perhaps when i get to know you better i will explain to you better about my former experience and maybe you will forgive my actions.
Please give me a call or drop in so that we can begin afresh.
Regards, Cathi

So I think I'm going to take her up on this offer. It wont be tomorrow or anything I work nights at Starbucks so knit night activities are kinda hard sometimes and I'm still working over the embarresment that the situation caused but hopefully we can meet up soon. Even if its just for a cup of coffee somewhere so we can just talk *and knit of course*...I might be able to do that sooner than go to her shop. I don't want to be around a large group of people if they are the same people that were in her shop yesterday I don't think I can handle the staring.

But I got a email starting her feels and saying she was sorry and that's all I really wanted out of all this.

LYS + sock patterns= public embarrassment

So I got a package frommy SP today full of sock making goodies, and after searching the net for a pattern I came up void. So I decide to drive to a LYS * which is 35 min away mind you* to see if they had any good patterns. So I got dressed. I'm looking cute I might say...Tight button shirt and pants and pants from H&M and my shoes were kicking...And I was rocking out my new scarlet hair *this is important for later...*

So I get there and notice its filled with knitters, and the owner was behind the counter and greeted me. We started having a conversation about the reason I was there...

*Scene*

Her: What brings you in today?

Me: Well a friend of mine just sent me a box full of goodies to make socks and I was wanting to look around at your sock area..

Her: GREAT! All that stuff is in this corner. What all did she send you?

Me: I have new needles and yarn...They yarn she gave me is super cute, but not really my style so I was going to learn on that and see if I can find some other colorways that I might like to knit with.

Her: Where did you learn to knit?

Me: I taught myself one night out of boredom and its kinda become more than a hobby. LOL

Her: What all have you made?

Me: A few hats, purses, a sweater or two...

Her: That's good. What kind of needles did you get?

Me: size 1, bamboo...I'm scared I might snap them when I'm knitting LOL

Her: LOL yea that does suck. Well, then I sell more needles so its ok...

*we laugh*

* I start looking thru the yarn till I have a question and turn to ask her about patterns at which point a family walked in and she started talking to them. So I quietly waited till she was done talking to them. Then after they were done she got a phone call so I waited till she was done on the phone...Looking over my shoulder to see if she was done now and again. Finally 4 cops showed up and started talking to her. Again I wait till she is done so I can ask her about sock patterns. I hear a few words of their conversation..."Red hair" and "Him over there" were the ones that got my attention.*

Cop: Will you step outside for me...

Me: Umm ok...

Cop: What brings you here today?

Me: I was hoping to find a sock pattern.

Cop: Do you have any weapons or drugs on you?

Me: *taken back* Ummm... I have a cell phone...

Cop: the reason we walked you out of here is because the woman inside said that she felt threatened with you in her store. She was robbed a bit ago and you being here made her feel uncomfortable.

Me: WHAT? I was looking thru sock yarn...Can I talk to her?

Cop: Sure we will see is she wants to talk to you

*a second cop goes in and starts talking to her*

Cop 2: She will be right out...

Cop 1: Do you have any id on you?

*hands him my D.L*

* Shop owner comes out*

Owner: the reason I did this was because I didn't feel comfortable with you in my store, I was just robbed and I when you walked in I felt this huntch that you're going to hit me again and my husband told me if I get those that I should act on them

Me: Yes but I have shopped here before, and I believe it was your daughter-in-law that served me because her husband was knitting in the back room.

Her: Well I didn't recognize you and so I called the cops.

Me: *shocked*

Her: You were looking at me more than the yarn...

Me: because I wanted to ask you a question about patterns. You were busy so I waited to talk to you.

Her: Oh...

Me: And your husband is the one that told me about your store. He seen me knitting at Starbucks and handed me cards and told me to come here and look at your stuff.

Her: umm...

Me: All I wanted was a stupid pattern...

Cop: This is a private shop if you would like him to leave we can see to it.

Her: No No its ok...He can stay. *she goes back inside*

Cop: Ok...Can you stay out here Krys we are still running your id thru the scanner.

*finally the cops let me go and I'm allowed to go back in. I walk in and all of the knitters are staying at me like I'm a criminal...*

Her: Here are some good patterns for beginners, an I was told that this is a GREAT book to have if you want to learn to knit...*hands me "Sensational Sock"*

Me: Yea I heard that was good too...

Her: These are nice too...*hands me some other patterns*

*after I realized what just happened I started shaking and could talk:

Her: Oh my...Your shaking...

Me: *looks up at her trying not to cry* I have to leave...I can't stay here...

*drops the patterns and hurries to the door before I start crying*

*End Scene*

so as soon as I left I collapsed on her front patio and started crying...I called DH, I couldn't talk he thought I was in a wreck at first....

After crying for a few min I was able to drive myself to work *Starbucks* and have a cup of coffee to sooth me...

I told my boss what happened and she couldn't believe it...

After I got home I sent this to the store owner via email...

Dear XxXxXxi * I hope that I show you spell your name*; First and foremost I would like to say that I am sorry you were robbed recently. Working in retail I have been held up a few times and I know that isn't a situation I would place anybody in. The reason I'm writing to you is that today you had 4 police officers take me out of your shop and question me. These questions included my purpose for being there and if I had any drugs or weapons on me. I have never fired a gun in my life so those questions were extremely offensive. You're husband is actually the one that told me about your store. He seen me knitting in Starbucks a few months ago and hand me a few cards and told me that I should stop by sometime, and I have but the times that I came in you weren't working and I believe the person that was said that she was your daughter-in-law. Another reason you never see me is because I usually go to Knitty Paws which is closer to me by around 10 - 15 min, I came into town just so I can go to your store. What I don't understand is when I walked in we talked about the supplies that I had i.e needle sizes and what they were made out of, and a few former projects of mine and I don't think some that was going to rob you would take the time to talk to you esp if you have a shop full of clients. I wasn't wearing baggy clothes or looked threatening in anyway. I'm hoping the reason you did what you did had nothing to do with my skin tone, and if it did I'm sorry...I'm sorry that you only seen color *skin as well as hair* and not the person that wanted to make his first pair of socks. When I walked back into your shop I was SOO embarrassed! This is the first time ANYTHING like this has ever happened to me. And what hurt me most was that you never once said that you were sorry. You explained why you did it but you never said that you were sorry about it. I don't like to interrupt people. So every time I was going to ask you something you were busy. I waited for you to finish the conversation you were having with the family that walked in after me. I waited till you got off the phone. I was even waiting to talk to you while the police were in there... Your web site says: Stop in, plan to stay a bit. Enjoy a cup of coffee and meet fellow fiber artists. Knit a friendship at Cottage Knits! I tried and all I got was public embarrassment. People staring at me like I was a criminal about to do something wrong. I hope you never have to feel like I did today. You seem like a nice woman and I would still like to frequent your shop from time to time. I just wanted to let you know how what you did today hurt and embarrassed me. I hope that I get some kind of apology after all this is said and done... Thank you, Krystofer Dixon

Did I over react or was this sooo uncalled for?

Prevention is beter than a cure...

I have a new motto for life...

If you're thirsty, a drink will cure it, if you're not, a drink will prevent it.

Prevention is better than a cure.

Amen to that...

So who wants a drink?

Pasta with a Side of Pain

So I'm all blistery and soar...NO this isnt a new addition to my STD collection...

last Wed I was making pasta and I spilt 6 gallons of boiling water on my arms and chest...

So umm yea after screamin, showering to cool down my skin, and collapsing on the bed bear ass naked in front of the window wishing for a breeze I came out of it with a few blisters on my wrist and my chest (tho I have a HUGE birth mark looking thing on my chest)...they are starting to pop but im using the bottle of h2ocean...I figure chicks LOVE scars so this will just take me on step closer to being the chick magnet that God wanted me to be in the first place...

and besides everyone likes a hot scar with a story to go with it...

I'm kinda tender but I am applying burn ointment to it so I think I should be ok...

*sigh*

why do I feel like a poached egg?

RECLAIM IT!

Cunt is an English slang word that refers to the human female genitals. It is considered by some to be the one of the most offensive words in the English language...

That's why I turned it into a handbag.

My mom gave me the idea for this actually. My Step father called her a cunt one night during an argument. And after my mom told me about it I thought, why not go with it?

Just like Bitch, some words need to be reclaimed.

If some guy gets pissed off because you are a powerful, strong, independent woman and he calls you a Cunt to make him feel better about himself, then smile and say THANK YOU!

Strange melancholy

I'm suffering from a strange melancholy today. I think it boils down to the whole I'm the only brown face in a sea of white...

and I'm kinda tired of it...
